We are investigating the evolution of trophic status within the Ceratobasidiaceae fungal family, which includes key plant pathogens, saprotrophs, and orchid mycorrhizal species. In partnership with the DOE Joint Genome Institute, we have sequenced the genomes of various anastomosis groups to build a comprehensive phylogeny based on these sequences. We are employing comparative genomics to investigate the evolutionary development of various trophic statuses within the Ceratobasidiaceae fungal family.
